Wall World 2

Wall World 2 is a dreamy, pixelated experience. I’m a huge fan of pixelated games and Wall World 2 didn’t let me down. The vibrant colours, interesting backdrops, and different biomes make this a visual treat. Additionally, the smooth animation, easy-to-follow action, and refined enemies are pleasant to look at. This is complemented by a high-energy soundscape. The audio profile isn’t OTT or memorable, but it works well. The combination of music and sci-fi sound effects creates a sense of power and impending doom. The controls are easy to understand. The basic control layout and exceptional UI are supported by a simple tutorial. Consequently, if you haven’t played the original, you needn’t worry as Wall World 2 can be mastered in no time at all. I invested around 20 hours to see this through to its conclusion. However, I didn’t unlock every achievement. If that is your thing, you’ll need to spend around 35 hours of grinding to complete this title.

If you already loved the first game, maybe this sequel gives you the extra systems and structure you wanted. Coming in fresh, I enjoyed the mining and spider-defense idea far more than I enjoyed the actual climb. There is a solid, addictive game buried in Wall World 2, but it asks for too much grind before it starts paying you back. I cannot fully recommend it, even though parts of it are absolutely my kind of thing.

Wall World 2 creates a satisfying feedback loop as players literally and figuratively mine its depths. The hook is simple and there are familiar roguelite trappings but engaging systems make "one more run" constantly enticing.

Fun sequel that expands on the roguelite mining gameplay loop of its predecessor

At first, I had my doubts about Wall World 2, but I soon got hooked on the game. The variety of protecting your Spider and mining and searching for your ultimate goal in the mines works well. At a certain point, this formula is repeated and repeated even more, but all in all, you do progressively work towards a final goal, and with the upgrades, you will certainly reach it eventually. Wall World 2 is therefore quite an addictive game that kept me entertained for many hours with pleasure. Unfortunately, it is not a perfect game in the end.

Wall World 2 is a worthy heir, thanks to a clean-up of the game mechanics that make it more immediate and fun, with an increasing difficulty that is fair but punishing if you push the envelope too much.

Wall World 2 takes what made the original great and expands it confidently. There’s more story, more mystery, more gameplay variety, and a real sense of progression that carries through every run. Returning players will feel the improvements immediately, while newcomers get a generous onboarding and a world worth exploring. It’s bigger, bolder, and more engrossing. A thoroughly worthwhile sequel and one I’m very glad exists.
