Copa City is a genuinely promising game that, through updates, could be great. The unique setting and interesting mechanics (once you figure them out) are let down by various bugs, poor - sometimes zero - explanation of objectives and game mechanics due to shoddy translations and poor design, and what does end up being a lack of replay value due to the one-match nature of the setting. Were this an early-access launch, it would be laudable that it's in the state it is. As a full launch, at £30, this is a wait and see.

If you're still craving that World Cup atmosphere, it looks like you're going to stay hungry for a while. Because Copa City isn't the game that's going to satisfy that craving. Then again, it's not exactly a finished game either...

There are undoubtedly gamers who appreciate Copa City's simplicity and don’t miss the deeper layers, but this game feels like a hollow cup that could have been made of gold-plated metal.

Copa City is our biggest disappointment of 2026 so far. While the idea of managing the logistical and urban side of a football event is fresh and fascinating, the execution is disastrous. Clunky controls, a confusing interface, severe technical issues, and a lack of content completely ruin the experience. It's a huge missed opportunity, made even worse by a too-high price tag.

Copa City has a brilliant concept, turning football into a tycoon about fan zones, crowd management, stadium preparation, and the hidden logistics behind match day. When the city comes alive and fans start filling the streets, its unusual perspective really works. Too often, though, unclear tutorials, weak feedback, rough navigation, and an underwhelming match payoff get in the way of what could have been a much smoother management experience.

In its current state, I believe the purchase is worthwhile mainly for those who appreciate the genre and are willing to overlook some rough edges that still need refinement in future updates. After all, behind the finishing issues lies a creative idea that has the potential to become a benchmark within a virtually unexplored niche.

Copa City moves the action off the pitch and into the behind-the-scenes world of football, delivering one of the most original concepts in the genre. Managing the entire infrastructure of a major sporting event is both engaging and rewarding, thanks to its solid management systems and immersive atmosphere. However, a confusing interface, insufficient tutorials, and a steep learning curve prevent its excellent concept from reaching its full potential. Even so, it's a creative experience that simulation fans should keep on their radar.

Copa City brings a refreshing twist to the management genre by putting players in charge of organizing every aspect of a major sporting event. Its deep simulation systems and charming presentation make for a rewarding experience, but the lack of guidance after the tutorial creates a steep learning curve. With a few quality-of-life improvements, it has the potential to become a standout management game.

Copa City looks at football from a fresh angle, focusing on fan zones and stadium logistics instead of the action on the pitch. Unfortunately, clunky controls, repetitive objectives, and a lack of meaningful long-term progression hold it back. The result is an original management game that never fully lives up to its promising concept.
