Rifter is a game that, despite a few control issues, offers a really good and fresh platforming experience. The high difficulty, the light-speed platforming and the neon aesthetics are the keys to one of the greatest surprises of the year so far.

Taming the challenging swinging mechanics is no mean feat, but I can’t wait to see what ridiculous stunts the community will be able to pull off with a bit of practice. Mark my words, Rifter will be a speedrunner’s paradise.

As Rifter is in some dire need of some polishing here and there, it falls under the category of those titles that are very good, but also hard to recommend to just anyone. Those who can handle its flaws, however, will get to enjoy a tough, and surprisingly fast, platformer that's built for those who love speed-running.

Despite, or maybe even because the game is so relentless, Rifter is such a rewarding experience, making each level a cause for celebration while simultaneously hitting you with your next eulogy.
