A casual timewaster for people who are into the Witcher enough to get the references, but not married to the idea every Witcher game has to be a big RPG.

Reigns: The Witcher turns the series' classic card-and-swipe system into a narrative adventure set in Geralt's world, where each binary choice affects the balance between factions and determines the fate of your run. The gameplay is immediate and surprisingly engaging, creating a fast and almost hypnotic loop. The objective-based progression and unlocks add variety, and fans of the witcher will appreciate the many references. However, its strong repetitiveness and trial-and-error nature ultimately limit its long-term depth.

Reigns: The Witcher successfully blends the addictive decision-making formula of the Reigns series with the rich world of Geralt of Rivia. Its humor, branching stories and clever use of Witcher lore make it a surprisingly entertaining spin-off, especially in short sessions.

What begins as a cleverly written, darkly humorous dive into Geralt's political nightmares quickly devolves into a frustrating chore. Reigns: The Witcher suffocates its brilliant narrative premise under a forced, clunky arcade combat system and an exhausting reliance on trial-and-error grinding. It's an amusing, short-lived novelty for die-hard fans of the franchise, but it completely strips away the agile, minimalist charm that made the original Reigns so addictive.

Minimalist and faithful, the title adapts The Witcher’s moral choices to the Reigns system with addictive gameplay, a flawless soundtrack, and creative yet questionable combat.

Reigns: The Witcher hits its limits quickly, but until then it's a genuine addiction and a delight for fans of both series, evoking some of the best things The Witcher 3 has to offer in a format that's as simple as it is easy to pick up.

PC is definitely not my number one choice to experience the new adventures of Geralt. Though the game captures the essence of CD Project Red's The Witcher series, at the end of the day, it's just a casual card adventure, not a full-blown RPG, and that will make it difficult to keep up with the experience longer than a short while.

Reigns: The Witcher gives that weird little dopamine hit of gambling against all odds with significantly less real-world implications – maybe a little lost sleep and addiction, but redirected to a noble plight in Witcher work. For fans of the Witcher series and those looking for a short but moreish game to master, Reigns: The Witcher might be worth the fanfare.

If you're a fan of The Witcher, it's a great way to have a new experience in the world, and if you aren't a fan, then it's still a good time with some very dark and silly moments mixed in. Reigns: The Witcher is a great take on the world of The Witcher and is an enjoyable, new way to experience it.
