Why play it

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is the eagerly awaited sequel to the acclaimed medieval combat simulator and role-playing game Mount & Blade: Warband. Set 200 years before, it expands both the detailed fighting system and the world of Calradia. Bombard mountain fastnesses with siege engines, establish secret criminal empires in the back alleys of cities, or charge into the thick of chaotic battles in your quest for power.

Story and worldbuilding

The horns sound, the ravens gather. An empire is torn by civil war. Beyond its borders, new kingdoms rise. Gird on your sword, don your armour, summon your followers and ride forth to win glory on the battlefields of Calradia. Establish your hegemony and create a new world out of the ashes of the old.

A shallow grind of an overworld strategy game threatens to ruin enjoyment of Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord's unique and sublimely gritty tactical action.

The exact same old battles sewn onto a perfunctory, shallow RPG and an elaborate but undramatic and robotic feudalism sim

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord combines RPG mechanics with grand strategy and features battles so epic they can be overwhelming at times. It has some rough edges, and the interface can be unwieldy, but at its core lies a roleplaying experience that is virtually unrivalled in scope - especially on console.

Bannerlord pulls it off. Calradia is a living, responsive, and wonderfully unscripted sandbox where you can spend hours merely because "one more quest" evolved into a surprising civil war. For people who like medieval turmoil, big battles, or role-playing games with no set finish, Bannerlord is still one of the most memorable and dangerously addictive games in the genre.

Bannerlord, in spite of its shortcomings, is a great game to play for tactics enthusiasts and players that love huge battles. Its simulation style of gameplay is fairly unique and keeps me coming back. An easy recommendation to all that love their sandboxes.

Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord is a wonderfully in-depth adventure RPG. You'll love its sprawling open world, and its time-sink campaign. Sadly, its multiplayer option isn't as captivating, but that matters not. With vast battles and folksy audio, this will impress you throughout.

Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord is, in spite of some missing features, a must-play experience for anyone who's remotely interested in kingdoms, claymores and combat.

Mount and Blade II: Bannerlord is a masterfully crafted game, an absolute spectacular successor to the first game that will satisfy the hunger of any strategy games fnatics ou there though we don't recommend going for a third installement for this franchise at least for the time being.
