Vampires: Bloodlord Rising is a game that doesn’t try to please everyone, and that’s precisely where its strength lies. It offers a slower pace, more complex systems, and a strong emphasis on strategy. The combination of an action-packed combat system, base building, resource management, and political decisions creates an unusual gameplay mix that feels fresh and well-thought-out—even if it may be a bit more challenging to grasp at first. However, once you dig beneath the surface of the mechanics, you’ll discover a surprisingly sophisticated whole, whose greatest strength is the sense of gradually growing power. A helpless creature becomes a ruler, a small fortress becomes a monumental stronghold, and a lone hunter becomes the lord of an entire region. This is an ambitious project for anyone seeking a dark fantasy strategy game with freedom of choice who wants to be more than just a hero—those who want to be the true rulers of their own empire.

Vampires: Bloodlord Rising is a charming (yet flawed) initial foundation of what is an extremely original concept in gaming, taking some of the best elements of the settlement sim genre and crafting an experience where there really is nothing similar on the market. The rough edges will no doubt improve over time, as aforementioned, this is a game in early-access. Definitely one to pick up if you love anything to do with vampires, or even to support what the game might eventually become, however in its current state, it’s lacking bite.

Exceptional base-building game trapped inside mediocre action RPG. Clunky combat and lifeless NPCs can't ruin the addictive castle construction that will steal your life. Perfect for architecture obsessives who'd rather debate roof tiles than fight Inquisitors. Rough early access edges, but the core loop slaps hard enough to recommend. A great starting point, let's see where it gets by the end of EA.

I can certainly see why Vampires, Bloodlord Rising has over 200,000 wishlists on Steam. If you are looking for an infinite sandbox game that has massive potential, yet is already a stable and visually appealing game to play, add this one to your shopping list; you won’t be disappointed!
