I enjoyed this game a lot. It gives the player a lot of freedom when designing the islands; there are so many items to buy from the shop, and getting currency is easy. My time spent in the game was filled with designing and seeing how many achievements I could get by just playing. I managed to get a good amount of the overall achievements, and once I got about halfway through the game, I pulled up the Steam page to see which ones I could aim for. One of my favorites was to complete a level without a house on the island. I aimed for 100% in this game, but I’ve run into two issues. One, there is a bundle that I need to buy all the items for that is not in the shop. And two, there are a bunch of hidden achievements that I don’t even know where to start.

All in all, the game absolutely nails the cosy, calming vibe it is going for. The core gameplay loop is fun and never really gets repetitive, even as you move through new islands doing basically the same thing as before. I do wish there was a bit more furniture available, but maybe that’s just me. While the price of £14.29 feels a little steep to me, the sheer amount of gameplay you get can make it worthwhile if you enjoy this type of gameplay, and it will probably go on sale eventually, too. Despite a few of its annoying quirks, Twinkleby is a very solid game that delivers what it promises, even if I still really feel like a little more content would have been nice. Here is hoping that some more furniture will be added down the road! But for today, I am giving Twinkleby the Thumb Culture Silver Award.

Twinkleby is a cozy, light-hearted, dollhouse-like decorating game that will capture you for hours as you house the many characters that come to your islands. Despite its quirks, it features relaxing gameplay in an adorable, customisable environment.

Twinkleby isn’t just an ordinary community-building game; it lets you express your creativity in your own way, with a social touch through interacting with villagers and observing their activities based on available resources. Perfect for fans of calm atmospheres and artistic style, even players not usually drawn to this genre may enjoy its open-ended gameplay that encourages creativity without fixed tasks or level-based objectives.

Twinkleby is a charming, whimsical take on the decorating sim, offering creativity without consequence. It’s light on challenge and sometimes drifts into slow territory, but for those who find joy in arranging, customising, and soaking in cosy vibes, it’s a floating-island daydream.

Twinkleby is a charming and relaxing experience that thrives on creativity and atmosphere, even if its slow pacing and repetitive loop won’t click with everyone. It’s one of those games that’s best played in short bursts, its whimsical art and satisfying gameplay can be appreciated without overstaying its welcome. If you’re after a cozy sandbox to unwind with and don’t mind a more measured pace, Twinkleby is well worth your time – even IF it doesn’t quite have the staying power of its peers.

7.2/10

Twinkleby is a charming and relaxing puzzle game that delights with its whimsical inhabitants, cozy atmosphere, and the joy of fulfilling quirky requests. While the collectible sets and treasure chests add motivation beyond the simple puzzles, long loading times and clunky item placement undermine the experience. For players seeking a calming digital escape, it still offers a unique, if unpolished, little gem.

Twinkleby isn't really a traditional video game; it's more like a creative ritual. It's about creating something lovely, going back to it, and then tearing it all down to start over. It honors both the fleeting and the imaginative.

Twinkleby is nothing but house decorating, but it's hard to find a cozy experience as rewarding as this.
