Taxi Chaos 2

Taxi Chaos 2 captures the spirit of its predecessor and, in turn, of the legendary original Crazy Taxi, adding new elements to breathe new life into this subgenre in 2026. The game introduces an RPG element with skills and upgrades that extend its lifespan and help add something extra to this type of ‘taxi’ game, which seems to have little scope for innovation.

It’s still nothing like the original Crazy Taxi, but it’s significantly better than the first Taxi Chaos. The story mode adds purpose and the world itself is better. While you’re sitting around hoping for an actual Crazy Taxi game, the Taxi Chaos sequel is a serviceable replacement. The price is a bit much though. It’s the same price as the original, but even with its improvements, I can’t really recommend paying more than $25.

While I keep hoping to see someone succeed in capturing the frantic energy and fun of the Crazy Taxi franchise, Taxi Chaos 2 comes up short of that mark

Taxi Chaos 2 is a solid game that has shaken off a lot of the issues that plagued the first game, but some still hang on. Great visuals, controls, and perfectly fine for quick blasts of arcade action, it’s a recommendation for fans – and I know there are many – of Crazy Taxi-esque games. That said, as much of a pleasure it is to see the strides this sequel has taken, in a couple of years I’d love to be covering Taxi Chaos 3 and awarding it a 9/10 as there really is some magic under the bonnet of this franchise and plenty of gas left in the tank!

Taxi Chaos 2 is the kind of sequel that flashes a new paint job while forgetting to fix its flat tires.

Taxi Chaos 2 can be fun in small doses, but its story mode in particular can quickly feel like a drag. Add in issues such as poor physics and a dire soundtrack, and you've got a game that fails to capture of the magic of the the arcade series it's obviously inspired by.

Taxi Chaos 2 might have finally added unique selling points to make it feel less like a mere Crazy Taxi clone, but at the end of the day, replaying Sega’s arcade masterpiece for the bazillionth time is still a much more interesting alternative.

Taxi Chaos 2 isn’t perfect by any means; there are still many areas in which the game could improve. The game, however, is fast, frantic and fun with a vibrant and fun city to drive around and explore. Those who are into quick, short bursts of adrenaline-fuelled gameplay will enjoy the score-chasing element of the game. Whilst I’d love to have seen some multiplayer integration, I had fun passing the controller back and forth with my eight-year-old son, taking the game in turns. If you’re looking for a game that doesn’t take itself too seriously but provides short bursts of adrenaline-filled fun, then I would recommend giving this one your time. In the end, Taxi Chaos 2 is exactly what it appears to be. A fast, loud, chaotic driving game that exists to fill a very specific void. It may not be the return of Crazy Taxi that fans have been begging for, but it comes close enough to scratch that itch. This really is Crazy Taxi we have at home, and for fans of arcade chaos, that is not a bad thing at all.
