Sopa: Tale of the Stolen Potato

I get the feeling that the ingredient in Sopa – Relato de la Papa Robada is, or was, the first (ingredient and part) of a larger story. That's why it's a story where the pace doesn't match what it's telling.

SOPA serves up a whimsical broth of hat-wearing frogs, stolen potatoes, and love for the adventure genre, but it feels just a little light on seasoning and should have stewed for a little while longer.

SOPA: Tale of the Stolen Potato is an adventure that captivates with its spontaneity. Behind the bugs, the rough animations and a structure that is at times too linear, an authentic soul is hidden.

SOPA – Tale of the Stolen Potato is a warm and colorful adventure filled with wit and heart. Suppose you are in the mood for some lighthearted fun, with plenty of exploration, humor, and endearing stories. In that case, SOPA – Tale of the Stolen Potato might be the game for you.

Miho’s 5-hour adventure is one that’ll be sticking with me for a while and it is one that I plan to come back to with my young children when they’re ready to play video games. Like the best kids movies, there are important moral and social messages within that I believe this game can be a conduit to communicate.

SOPA – Tale of the Stolen Potato is a lovely adventure title that shows just how creative storytelling you can be with the smallest of foods. It encapsulates a piece of Latin America within its gorgeous art, enchanting music, and engaging puzzles. Technical issues do eventually compound to make for a bit of a cumbersome experience, but I can look past that to recommend this adventure to all. ∎
