Sleep Awake gets stronger in its second half, when the surreal imagery and routine stealth stop living in separate silos.

The death cults are silly, but at the same time, ruminations on how humanity’s self-perceived resilience could work against it. That’s where Sleep Awake really hits. When the monsters do show up it stumbles, and feels more like a normal video game the longer it wades into the Whys and Hows. Not bad for a five-hour rollercoaster.

Sleep Awake is an atmospheric and mysterious game in which dreams and reality intertwine. With minimalist, hypnotic graphics, a subtle soundtrack and creative puzzles, the game offers a unique experience that you will discover slowly and will stay with you for a long time

A brief, bizarre, and brilliant trip. SLEEP AWAKE offers a mind-bending story that leaves you dizzy and lightheaded, pure, simple magic.

Sleep Awake is more of a collection of music videos with beautiful visuals and pleasant sound, presented as a pretentious walking simulator about a dying world. The developers would have been better off stopping there.

With the introduction being a bit of a puzzle itself with what it expected me to accomplish, it lacked any true immersion. As I consider immersion to be one of the most important aspects in the horror genre, it made Sleep Awake feel incredibly lackluster overall.

Sleep Awake tells an unusual story with an original idea that grabs you… until you realize it's not entirely well executed. Even so, its atmosphere, sound, and psychedelic moments make it a unique experience if you're into experimental horror.

For the price, it feels a bit steep, and you don’t really get a lot out of it since it runs about five to six hours and has very thin gameplay, while leaning hard on the surrealist horror imagery.

Blumhouse Games continues to drag great ideas down to mediocrity, just as they do in the film industry. If they ever allocate a solid budget for games one day, then we can play something truly great.

Judging SLEEP AWAKE mainly comes down to what you expect from it. Those searching for a horror action game built around complex mechanics, demanding combat, or deep stealth systems are likely to be left unsatisfied. SLEEP AWAKE is not interested in traditional gameplay conventions; instead, it positions itself as an interactive experience-one that prioritizes atmosphere and audiovisual expression over mechanical depth.
