A gentle cadence and quirky characters can't counter Mythwrecked's repetitiveness, making this more Greek tragedy than odyssey.

In general, I thoroughly enjoyed playing Mythwrecked. Although the visuals and audio weren’t my cup of tea, the gameplay and storyline scratched an itch I didn’t even know I had. If you like casual games that you can drop and pick up at will, this one will be right up your alley. With over 30 achievements, plenty of items to hoard, and a cozy atmosphere, I encourage anyone looking for a relaxing world to escape in to give this game a shot.

I had an enjoyable time with Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island but I wish it was more involving, especially when it comes to its puzzles. 🏝️

I went into Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island with modest expectations, and my needs for a comfortable gaming experience have been met. Despite my ambivalent feelings towards Alex, I was invested in the story. I enjoyed the dialogue minigames and getting to know the characters, and I kept laughing every time I spoke to Hermes. How that guy flew on those tiny wings is anybody's guess. I enjoyed the little collectathon mechanics, such as finding furnishings for my little home in the lighthouse, and when I needed a break from the game, I could sit on a mat and listen to the audio cassettes. The lack of challenge and simple gameplay won’t be to everyone’s tastes, but it is relaxing enough to play and a solid Steam Deck performer. If you have time to kill and want to explore an ancient Greek island without many stakes, Mythwrecked might surprise you.

The gameplay loop itself is relaxing and easy. But the characters and the story are so shallow despite being such a huge part of the game that it can grow tiresome.

Even if the versions of Zeus, Hera, and Ares are a lot more pleasant here than they are in, say, God of War, there’s not really anything about that – or this game – that makes Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island worth recommending.

The gods of the Greek pantheon are front and center in “Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island”. They feel like real characters and it is a joy to get to know them. Unfortunately the gameplay is a very shallow affair that consists mostly of finding an item on one side of the island that you have to deliver to a god on the other side of the island. This can be very appealing though and combined with the great cast it results in more than one long and annoying fetch quest. Paired with the great visuals and so many very cute animations makes it a worthwhile stay on Ambrosia Island.

An amusing and generally low-key adventure with some unusual takes on the Greek pantheon

Mythwrecked: Ambrosia Island offers a heartfelt and companionable experience that puts the focus on friendship, memory and community. It's a charming adventure, and a perfect island-based break from the cold winter and its charmless blockbusters.
