There's some fun to be had with John Carpenter's Toxic Commando if you can play with some friends, especially, as that's the best way to play these types of games, but there's also just a bit too much stuffed in here to make it have the same level of replayability that leads to long-term success.

The missions offer horror fans some fun moments, and it remains an engaging diversion and an ideal way to pass the time with friends or other gamers you have matched with.

We do not need to retread those games but instead forge new paths from the undead roots that they laid before. I think John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando does just that through its absurdly 80’s story to its explosive gunplay and addition of vehicles. It takes the zombie/horde baton and treads its own path, one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

If you’re into co-op shooters, zombies, ’80s synth vibes, and the chaos of defending a church with three friends while someone barrels a flaming truck through the gates like a maniac, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is an easy pick. Enjoy responsibly!

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is an absolute blast to play solo with bots or with friends online. It has enough unique nuances that give it a different flair compared to Left 4 Dead and Back 4 Blood. The gameplay is solid, each class feels unique with their own perks, the driving is tight and it has a fun B-movie presentation. While it’s a bit annoying that it’s requires to be online at all times so people can join, playing with bots is as enjoyable as playing with others for the most part. John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is one of the most enjoyable games of the year and it features big dumb fun. Whether to play solo or with friends or randoms, if you enjoy a good shooter, John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is for you.

John Carpenter’s Toxic Commando is an interesting mash-up of different ideas. Slaughtering the roamer hordes in the game is extremely satisfying, and the greater difficulties are brutal. It is excellent for players looking for a hardcore co-op zombie shooter with open-world exploration. The vehicles add a nice touch and make it feel like you are in a true zombie survival movie. It is an overall enjoyable experience, but it could do even better with more content and more rewarding weapon upgrades.
