I am disappointed with Boti: Byteland Overclocked. Initially, I was genuinely interested in it and was hoping for a strong platformer title. I got that to some extent. The colorful, eye-catching art style is, however, overshadowed by a plethora of frustrating bugs. The short gameplay time doesn't allow you to fully enjoy the world, which actually holds quite a bit of potential.

I sincerely wish that Boti: Byteland Overclocked was more fine-tuned before its console debut but what we have is still a solid platformer. 🤖

Despite a few bugs and crashes, I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing Boti: Byteland Overclocked. I was not able to test out split-screen co-op for this review, but there are definitely times when having two players would have helped, especially with the final boss. There is a lot of humour to be found here, which I think both adults and younger players would find funny.

It's a shame that Boti: Byteland Overclocked's problems compromise the player's enjoyment. It has a great idea and a very well-crafted environment for the theme it proposes. However, it is more than necessary that corrections be made so that the little messenger robot gains the prominence it deserves.

Boti: Byteland Overclocked is a somewhat slow jump & run with perhaps slightly too long levels, but which was designed with a lot of love and doesn't do much wrong gameplay-wise. However, the occasionally severe bugs, which especially demand a lot of repetition from the player, cloud the fun and can prove to be very frustrating. If these bugs are fixed, Boti, setting aside the quite stressful final boss, is a great game especially for newcomers to the genre; otherwise a frustration resistance is necessary that young players probably won't bring with them.

While this may look like a pretty basic family-friendly 3D platformer (and it is to a degree), it struggles in key areas to meet that goal

Even with the so-so performance, Boti: Byteland Overclocked is still worth playing if you’re a fan of 3D platformers. It’s got fun characters, a vibrant aesthetic, and gameplay that’ll feel comfortable to anyone who’s ever played one of these games in the past few decades. There may be some flaws, but the overall package is solid enough that it’s worth overlooking them.

Boti Byteland Overclocked is a fun, cute, and educational 3D platformer. Jump, dash, glide, and beat things that are in your way as you strive to save Byteland from impending doom. It is a solid debut from Purple Ray Studio.

Boti: Byteland Overclocked is a fun and really well-polished game featuring quite a few mechanics from other platforms of the past. Although the game has a few minor bugs, Purple Ray Studios is actively sending patches and updates for a smoother experience. The story is fun and gripping, with the voice acting of One, Zero, and Kernel keeping you entertained for hours, not to mention the amount of exploring you can do in your free time.

Boti: Byteland Overclocked will likely win over the hearts of any gamer looking for a fun casual experience to play alone or with a loved one. Gorgeous graphics, tight platforming, and collectable gameplay make this one of the best platformers I have played this year. On top of that, you can enjoy this game either online or in local co-op, enabling you to share the positive vibes together however you please. The game falls slightly short with its combat and being a tad too easy. Even so, if you’re looking for something just to put a smile on yourself, then Boti will absolutely achieve that.
