Birushana: Winds of Fate is a visual novel that tells the story of Shanao, a young woman who was raised like a man at a temple in the mountains.

All in all, Birushana: Winds of Fate is a successful, heartwarming visual novel that strikes exactly the right chords: more time with beloved characters, fresh perspectives on previously overlooked supporting cast members, and a well-rounded blend of historical drama and genuine romance. Fans of the first installment should pick this up without hesitation. However, it is not well-suited for newcomers, as it barely works without the background knowledge from *Rising Flower of Genpei*. That said, this is no reason to skip the title—but it is certainly a great opportunity to catch up on its predecessor.

If you enjoy titles like Hakuoki or Homura: The Crimson Warriors, you’ll probably enjoy the Birushana games. And if you played the first Birushana but wanted more romance, Birushana: Winds of Fate fills that gap.

Birushana: Winds of Fate is a product designed for a very specific group of people. For readers who have read it, it’s a fun addition to a story that they love.” It's not finished, and newcomers have a hard time getting the full picture. It’s only beneficial for folks who have previously made the initial journey.

Fandisks are very hit-or-miss for me, with some of them being great, serving as a nice sequel title, and others that seem like they were made just to deliver the romance the original game practically didn't have. And unfortunately, Birushana: Winds of Fate falls into that second category. Even if you played the original, I'd still advise you to wait for a sale, unless you really, really want to revisit this story and see Shanao finally finding true love.

Birushana: Winds of Fate does a commendable job of adding extra spicy scenes that were missing from the original Birushana game. It also does a great job of adding substance to almost every love interest from the original game.
