While I was drawn in by the peaceful/educational premise of Ancient Farm, the pinnacle of what can be experienced and subsequently enjoyed is too quickly achieved. In the face of this, though, the developers do give me hope with their active hands on approach, and perhaps in the future, could add more to the game. Until then, I will play Ancient Farm as a way to relax for a bit after a stressful day, taking in captivating Egyptian scenery.
Read full review ↗Ancient Farm is a rather uneven farming simulation. The fact that I am mostly alone on my farm—apart from the occasional trading ship—does not bother me at all. The tutorial is quite extensive, but beyond that there is a lack of incentives to engage with the various gameplay systems. In particular, the acquisition and use of water is overly complicated, requiring too many tools. On top of that, these tools break far too quickly. The seasons only differ in terms of which crops can be grown, which makes the overall experience feel somewhat shallow. As a result, the game comes across as a bit thin, and I can only offer a limited recommendation.
Read full review ↗Ancient Farm offers a solid foundation for a hands-on farming simulation set in ancient Egypt, with satisfying progression loops, a variety of crops and livestock, and a charmingly styled setting. Its focus on manual farming, crafting tools, and building your settlement from scratch gives you a strong sense of accomplishment as you watch your farm slowly come to life.

If you're looking for simple, casual, and undemanding gameplay that allows you to unwind and relax a bit, this is the title for you. It's also important to remember that, after all, this is a small and uncomplicated production.
