Yet Another Zombie Defense HD

With no shortage of zombie games to purchase or browse through in the store, it's hard to understand what void Yet Another Zombie Defense HD is trying to fill. It's a top-down twin-stick shooter that doubles as a base-defence zombie game... however it doesn't do anything to push the boundaries that other titles have already established. It is fun to play in short bursts, and its longevity is only extended by finding some local or online people to play with, but even still, the many shortcomings are impossible to ignore. While Yet Another Zombie Defense HD didn't have to bring anything new to the table, it still needed to be a zombie-stew worth eating and unfortunately, despite having some potential, it's still missing quite a few ingredients to make this experience worth anyone's while.

It’s fun, it plays smooth and although simple, it offers up a gameplay loop that can keep you going for quite some time.

Yet Another Zombie Defense HD is a substandard game that has similar game modes and rough graphics. The only redeeming quality of this game is the interesting defense mode, which adds some strategy to shooting mindless zombies.

While a good idea in theory, ageing graphics and rinse and repeat missions with lack of flexibility means this game can get boring quite quickly.

Yet Another Zombie Defense HD might have a long name but the game has very little to offer in terms of interesting experiences or even plain fun. The lack of any original ideas, in-depth gameplay or fun mechanics make this a largely passable and forgettable title which brings virtually nothing compared to other titles of the same genre.

I'd give this the thumbs up. It is not expensive and is guaranteed to be a fun get in get out game. If you do want next gen graphics etc, this may not be the title for you, but from a strategy perspective it offers a fun challenge that gets you thinking. Let us know what you think!

Yet Another Zombie Defense HD is a great addition to the Switch and for people who are looking for a break from their xth rounds of Mario Kart or Smash Brothers. With several game modes and study controls, there’s enough going on with the ever increasing difficulty to keep you and your team going for a while!

You’ll play the game as one of 4 different character types that are purely cosmetic, running around, trying to shoot roaming zombies, pick up money or supplies as they drop, and survive...

Yet Another Zombie Defense HD is courteously to the point with its title. There's no sarcasm in its description. The game is literally yet another zombie defense game.

YAZDHD isn't an expensive game, so I am not too fussed about the value prospect. It may not look pretty, but it handles well and if it wasn't for the online bugs and the lack of player base, I would probably recommend this more. But if you regularly have friends over, then this wouldn't be the worst way to spend some time.
