Although the campaign can be challenging, Town to City is not as exacting as other games in the sim genre. A distinctive art style, gridless building, and a relaxed, calming pace are central to the experience.

Town to City stands as an excellent recommendation for lovers of beautiful games. It’s a feast for both the eyes and ears. The game’s simple yet engaging mechanics make it consistently enjoyable, while allowing you to unwind after a long day. Performance issues are perhaps the only notable drawback I encountered. Still, I recommend it – not only to fans of cozy games or city builders, but to anyone who appreciates thoughtful, beautifully crafted experiences.

Town to City offers a calm building experience that blends creativity with simplicity, featuring a high degree of design freedom and distinctive visual variety. Despite some shortcomings, such as the lack of localization and weak tutorials, it remains an enjoyable experience for fans of management and construction games—especially for those seeking relaxing moments away from pressure.

Amid the incessant stream of lucrative micro-transacting titles, Town to City’s staggering $20 price tag feels like a breath of fresh air. Coupled with the backdrop of a doom-and-gloom world, the fundamental objective of the game couldn’t ring truer: “Measure success not by gold, but by smiles.”

Galaxy Grove exemplifies building sims well in Town to City. Buildings grow with your town whilst removing some of the annoying limitations that you see in other games. The lack of grid was one of the best things for me, as I hate not having full control over placements. I can’t wait to continue to develop my little town into a sprawling, ugly mass and see what else this game has to offer! Town to City receives a Thumb Culture Gold Award.
