For better or worse, The Way Remastered is a faithful homage to the old Delphine Software titles that inspired it and players should expect no more or less.

The Way Remarested is a game that I totally recommend if you are fans of games like Another World, Heart of The Darkness, Abe's Odyssey ... Graphically it may seem very simple, but it really is a very entertaining game with a lot of originality , especially when it comes to mechanics and puzzles, and I'm sure it won't leave anyone who dares indifferent.

The Way Remastered on the Nintendo Switch is as solid adventure that I definitely recommend you check out. The attention to detail is quite rich for each of the different locations you visit, and the puzzle solving and shooting mechanics will keep you engaged from start to finish. I had fun playing this one for review, and I look forward to seeing what else SONKA brings to Nintendo Switch!

In order for the story to be truly engaging, we need to be fully absorbed into the game, rather than pulled out by jarring moments. As I progressed, I began to care less and less about Tom, his old crew and his plight.

After roughly two hours, a second chase sequence with a large yellow animal begins, and the player has two minutes and 30 seconds to complete the boss fight, or the game will crash and delete the entire save. This happened to me, and was frustrating, and it took me about an hour to return to where I was, having known how to solve the previous puzzles. SONKA has also put out a walkthrough online, detailing bypassing the glitch.

The Way Remastered is a breed of games that doesn’t get made much these days. It tells a touching story through minimal exposition and focuses on isolation and adventure. There are tons of ways to instantly die, so be prepared for lots of trial and error. Thankfully respawns are instant with no load times.

In the end I think this is a style of game that people will tend to either love or hate without much of a middle ground. Even gamers who are nostalgic for a lost age could find it to be a refreshing but are just as likely to find that there are some styles of play better left behind. Younger gamers who appreciate a challenge may enjoy the odd mix of action and puzzles but may well get hung up on some of the dated mechanics. Regardless, The Way Remastered does a fine job of helping to revitalize a deserving title that has its merits, how it is received will just likely be in the eye of the beholder.

A charming game with an astonishing atmosphere, The Way Remastered will surely be a splendid Flashback-like adventure in the near future. Sadly, Sonka's porting is "today" quite unstable tot the point that we had not been able to see the ending becouse of a sudden crash and a corrupted autosave: beware, if you want to buy the game before a fixing patch!

The Way Remastered is another janky indie game with faux-retro pixel art that misses the point of pixel art. It looks and plays like it was made by amateurs or possibly by some cynical designers who ticked all their checkboxes on what generic indie games are. This is not the worst indie game made - far from it - but it is so bland and plain... so middle of the road and inoffensive, that it is devoid of soul. Many gamers will decry big name publishers of mass producing soulless AAA games en masse, but now the scene has got to a point where indie developers can pump out non-descript, generic sci-fi retro homage number 274 and dupe people into their scheme. At the very least, The Way is forgettable.

The Way Remastered is a fun and challenging puzzle platformer. The world is wonderfully crafted and is a sight to behold. The game closing errors and game breaking bug are annoying and ruin the fun. Relying only on autosave can cause problems, as I learned the hard way. Hopefully the planned patch can fix these issues.
