It's pointless to make a game that explores a particular theme without actually trying to understand what makes it so special and, consequently, embedding that into the core of its development. The Executive - Movie Industry Tycoon is a product that embodies this problem. It's a title that clings to a sterile logic of numbers, algorithms, and volume, like a bland production aimed directly at streaming.

If you love deep management systems and can overlook the absence of real-world licensing, The Executive can still offer plenty of fun. But if you’re looking for a movie game that lets you play with (or against) actual Hollywood legends, you may wish for a different cut of the same concept.

The Executive is a clicker game for managers, but one that really makes you think. I really like the game’s overall theme, so it was no problem for me to get completely absorbed in it and enthusiastically come up with various movie combinations. The graphics are very colorful throughout, and in my personal opinion, they suit the game perfectly. Aside from a few shortcomings, everything fits together beautifully, and it’s one of the better management simulators out there.

The Executive doesn't really expand upon the tycoon sub-genres formula, but it's still an enjoyable, simple strategy game that lets you live out your fantasy of making movies without all the boring real-world work that goes into it. Now, grab the overpriced cinema popcorn, would you? I've got a schlocky werewolf horror script that will hopefully fix all of my money woes.

Overall, The Executive - Movie Industry Tycoon is a decent game with a lot going for it. It is fun, addictive, and well-made. It is not perfect, however, with a lot of quality-of-life things missing, as well as issues with conveying information to the player.

“The Executive” offers an interesting premise by putting me in the role of an aspiring film producer building his own movie studio from the ground up. The game starts promisingly with the ability to control various aspects of movie production. However, the game quickly loses its appeal as the tasks and processes are repetitive and offer little variety. Overall, “The Executive” lacks depth and long-term motivation.

The Executive then is thankfully more MCU than DCU, with a breadth of mechanics and enough to unlock to ensure you have the best possible chance at Hollywood success. Whilst you can feel fairly hard done by throughout, it's regardless a solid simulation of what running a movie studio truly entails. The elation, and the heartbreak. See you at the Gaspars.

I had a great time playing The Executive: Movie Industry Tycoon. Honestly, I am not sure if it would’ve been a game I would’ve picked up myself. But I am very happy I was allowed to play because I am now obsessed. Goblinz Publishing and Aniki Games have given us a great management game, which I implore you to give a chance. There is a lot to enjoy, and there is plenty of replayability – it would be hard to become bored! The Executive: Movie Industry Tycoon receives the Thumb Culture Platinum Award!

The Executive is a game that players will lose hours to in the best of ways. While it does have some room for improvement, it is a strong showing from Aniki Games for their debut game. This is definitely a game that allows for multiple playthroughs to find your optimal play style. For those looking to get into simulation games, this may seem slightly overwhelming but the tutorial works well to bring new players to the genre. Overall, The Executive is a solid game that promises hours of gameplay.
