The Adventure Pals is a truly wonderful experience that had us grinning from the moment we launched the game, right up until the credits. The platforming is tight and precise, yet relatively relaxed and easy-going on the whole, and the game's perfect cast of bonkers characters provides humour, wit, and a genuinely loveable world to explore. A couple of little niggles stop the game from hitting the true heights that it deserves to reach, but we'd urge you to look past these and dive into the fun. If you're a fan of platformers and cute things, you need to play this game.
Read full review ↗If you happen to be an Adventure Time super fan that has been dying for a good video game that matches the license, this is the closest you'll get for a while. If you can turn off your brain and enjoy the cartoon graphics and simple gameplay, this is a couple of well-spent hours. But if you have a brain that can't help but dissect the world in front of you, this game might trouble you. The Adventure Pals is nearly a success but ultimately lacks the organic comedy it needed to truly feel magical.
Read full review ↗Despite being technically competent, The Adventure Pals alas becomes forgettable because of the lack of ambition from the developers. Because of the fear of making mistakes, Massive Monster played it safe, dooming the game to mediocrity. It can still be a fun pastime, though, especially if played with a friend.
Read full review ↗Adventure Pals seeks to be the weird alternative game that your kids will love, and it looks attractive because it's reminiscent of a mix of different games and familiar shows. Unfortunately, its unashamed emulation of other works is both glaring and disappointing. What isn't disappointing, though, are the game mechanics, which may be similar to others, but can be framed as a teaching mechanism for game experiences to come. Combined with punchy controls, this makes for a wonderful skeleton of a game, although it's regrettably tightly draped in the likes of superstar media from yesteryear.
Read full review ↗The Adventure Pals may not be the deepest or most challenging game in the platforming genre. Nonetheless, it still manages to stay fun thanks to its topsy-turvy plot, accessibility and the neat ideas that are sewn into the charm of its art style.
Read full review ↗Colorful, wacky, and fun, The Adventure Pals is an entertaining platformer that’ll give you a reason why you should have your very own giraffe and pet rock as companions. While some levels feel repetitive and the dialogue text size could be tweaked, it’s a purrrtastic adventure to play on your favorite console.
Read full review ↗A wonderfully charming platformer than has more character in the first five minutes than some manage in their entirety. The inclusion of local co-op means you can make your way through the story with a friend and share the weirdness together.
Read full review ↗The Adventure Pals is a fun platformer that players of all ages can enjoy (assuming they like and appreciate the silliness of the gameplay and storyline), not to mention how great it looks. The story could be a bit more lengthy but it does have some replay value for those who like playing co-op or achieving 100% completion.
Read full review ↗The Adventure Pals is an addictively fun action platformer that you have to play on Nintendo Switch. There's a ton of content to enjoy, so you're looking at 8-10 hours with the game depending on how good you are at action platformers and if you find all stickers and cupcakes for each stage during your first run.
Read full review ↗It might lack a little originality but The Adventure Pals is a lighthearted adventure that’s as fun and as eccentric as its obvious inspirations.
