Tempopo's rhythmic puzzling is undeniably great, but is let down by a lack of mechanical pacing and an absence of Witch Beam's coveted storytelling.

If I were to sum up my time with Tempopo in one word, it would be joy. Discovering the ways the commands could be used, watching Hana celebrate every flower rescued, and seeing the way the Tempopo encouraged Hana when she stuffed up. Pure. Joy. Aside from that, Tempopo is polished to a standard one would expect from a high-end indie game or even a AAA game. It’s awe-inspiring how the Witch Beam team managed to fit so much into what appears to be a simple game on the surface and they managed to make every bit enjoyable as well.

I'm super-happy that a puzzle game as rewarding and whimsical as Tempopo exists so if you enjoy gradually working out elaborate solutions to complex scenarios, you'll be absolutely smitten with what it has to offer. Plus, it's so cute! And the music's great. Okay, bye. 💐

Tempopo stands as a puzzle game full of heart and joyful melodies, easy or hard enough for any kind of player. It's satisfying gameplay loops and adorable designs help it shine, but hopefully there's even more content to come in the future.

Considering what Witch Beam did with games like Tempopo, Assault Android Cactus, and Unpacking, I’m starting to wonder if the team can’t miss.

Tempopo is a chilled out and laid back puzzler that isn't too difficult, yet it provides just the right amount of challenge to keep you playing.

It’s definitely a cute game, and the theming is super fun. The soundtrack too is delightful, and there was plenty to enjoy about it. Unfortunately, even though it’s by no means a bad game, the puzzles just didn’t suit my personal preferences. But that doesn’t mean that you won’t love them! Everyone has different preferences, so don’t let my naysayer attitude hold you back if this game appeals to you. There’s so much to love here, and I’d say it’s certainly worth trying out.

The fact is that as a fan of Chu Chu Rocket, I am continually disappointed that there isn’t more done with that kind of puzzler, and Tempopo more than scratched the itch. This has been my favourite puzzle game in years.

Despite there being a lack of big emotions and intriguing environmental storytelling, there is an absolute gem of a puzzle game to be found.
