Why play it

Stasis is a point-and-click, sci-fi, horror adventure game played from a unique isometric perspective. Stasis intertwines a gruesome narrative with retro adventure gameplay. Combine items, interact with computers and solve puzzles while experiencing the gritty atmosphere. In the distant future, aboard a seemingly abandoned spacecraft, John Maracheck awakes from stasis. He must push himself to new physical and emotional limits and unravel the mysteries around him. John is in tremendous pain, his wife and daughter are missing, and time is running out as the Groomlake plunges further into the swirling blue methane clouds of Neptune.

Despite some characterisation wobbles and a somewhat perfunctory final mile, STASIS is the best adventure game I've played in years. It's also one of the most impressive horror games I've played lately. The tiny team behind it have done remarkable things, far in excess of what many, much larger studios seem capable of. Those studios should be afraid – be very afraid.

STASIS is one of the most memorable experiences I've had from gaming in quite a while. Some puzzles can be frustratingly obtuse, but the majority are a pleasure to solve. The game will take most people between six to ten hours to complete, depending on puzzle-solving skill, and just about every moment is sure to stick with the player in some way. STASIS is a game that is not to be missed by anyone craving an eerie and sinister experience.

STASIS punches well above its weight, delivering a chilling, intense experience. With an atmospheric and unnerving style, the title is a must for fans of sci-fi horror.

Stasis is a point-and-click adventure that fans of science fiction horror will want to check out, especially if Stasis: Bone Totem was enjoyed. These games can be played in any order, but Stasis’ focused setting and shorter length make it the more appealing place to start. It will shock in most places, but its twisted plot will keep everyone engaged to the end. It has been adapted well for Nintendo Switch, despite some minor issues. Just make sure to go into Stasis for the story before anything else and prepare to think about it for a while afterwards.

A gloriously depressing psychological horror tale, conveyed with the visual style of Fallout and the mechanics of Monkey Island.

Solid sci-fi old-school-infused isometric horror adventure game on PS5

While The Brotherhood perfected its technique with Stasis: Bone Totem, Stasis is well worth a visit for point-and-click horror game fans. Its port to console is a little clunky, but the writing and atmosphere make Stasis well worth the time.

While, once it gets rolling, this offers up a pretty solid sci-fi horror adventure, the console-style controls, some presentation shortcomings, and often haphazard puzzle design detract from its strengths
