Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted

Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted's attempt to remaster the original comes with questionable choices, but it's still a good way to get re-acquainted with (or introduced to) one of the quirkiest puzzle-strategy games of the 2000s.

Plants Vs. Zombies: Replanted adds just a few bells and whistles to the classic strategy game, but it's still just as fun as ever.

You can play with a controller, use the touch-screen in handheld mode, or use a Joy-Con 2 as a mouse. And it looks and runs great, making the Switch 2 version, arguably, the definitive version of the game.

Overall, I find myself really loving Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted. Its cute and quirky character designs are infectiously charming, and the gameplay is simple but effective. The graphics are easy on the eyes and help make the character designs shine. It's a bummer that there were problems with the controls at launch, but even with those issues, it wasn't enough to prevent the game from being a botanical blast.

Including all previous content plus new ways to play, Plants vs. Zombies: Replanted emerges as the best version of an already near-perfect game.

PopCap revives its most beloved garden without ruining it, adding quality-of-life features, restored content, and audiovisual polish that makes fighting the zombie horde worthwhile again.

Replanted aims to make the classic more accessible, prettier, and more enjoyable to play. For those who miss the original, or even for those who have never had contact with the series, this version ends up being a very comfortable way to experience Plants vs. Zombies.
