On Your Tail

An engaging blend of life sim and detective mystery, On Your Tail has a wonderful setting and great characters. Unfortunately, the overall experience is bogged down by painful load times and debilitating technical issues. The game isn't a graphical powerhouse and the Switch is more than capable of maintaining a stable day in Borga Marina. Here's hoping Memorable can patch in some improvements post-launch so that Diana's search for inspiration feels less like a slog.

On Your Tail can be a bit rocky at times, with the game sometimes struggling to balance both its life sim and detective elements, not helped by some awkward gameplay segments surrounding the core mystery. Still, thanks to a strong and lovable cast of characters and a gorgeous little town filled with a lot of fun stuff to do, there's a ton here to enjoy, especially for those looking for something more cozy to chill out with. Indeed, it's a nice little vacation worth taking.

On Your Tail is a charming title that suffers from terrible performance issues. It's a pity; there's a lovely tale, interesting characters, and fun gameplay on offer. Perhaps playing on the Switch 2 will deliver an experience closer to what the developers were trying to deliver.

On Your Tail is an ode to the value of empirical experience and the importance of real-life experiences for the creative process, which is also a nostalgic coming-of-age about that vacation trip that was special for some reason, about how some experiences only happen once in a lifetime and about how certain memories will forever be just memories. Following Diana's journey is satisfying, and I believe that everyone can learn a thing or two from this game; however, recommending On Your Tail to Nintendo Switch players is a tricky thing to do, considering the terrible quality of the version of the game on the Big N's handheld.

There’s a lot to love about my visit to Borgo Marina even if it's far from a perfect trip. Whether it’s spending time with the wonderful cast of characters, solving the mysteries of the town or finding hidden constellations on walls, there’s plenty to do. It's a very nice, if flawed, vacation and one I wouldn’t mind taking again.

If it wasn't for its poor performance on Switch, On Your Tail would be a must-have detective game in all of its anthropomorphic glory. 🔎

Despite the dire issues with performance, I can't say I didn't have fun with On Your Tail. It's an adventure in which there's nitid care in the world and narrative building, be it for its comfortable ambiance, charismatic characters, pleasant and intuitive gameplay or cool music. I hope the development team can fix these small hindrances soon because, when the game is looking pretty, it's as if we were in a vacation trip or, when it comes to artists, an art retreat.

While not always intuitive, once you get used to its style of play On Your Tail is a fine and cozy mystery-filled adventure

On Your Tail is a refreshing game in the mammoth sea of what you normally see out in the wild west of gaming. You can easily tell that On Your Tail is a well thought out game filled with purpose and ambition. The games' fully explored ideas and established implementation of its mechanics effortlessly sells you on its intentions. The great graphics, character designs, and other elements of the gameplay like going on dates, delivering mail, making phone calls, collecting artwork, solving riddles, and finding hidden star constellations create a game with a lot of merit. Sadly, the Switch version is just not worth anyone's time due to uncompromisable issues that completely halt your experience making this game frustratingly unsatisfying.

On Your Tail is a lovely indie detective-life sim title with a charming cast, intriguing plot, and bright graphics that has hours upon hours of content for players to explore...if you can get past its technical issues and sluggish loading, that is. What is essentially a great indie game is bogged down by its performance issues that take away from the gameplay experience.
