Metro 2033 Redux is a top-class first-person shooter/survival horror game, a breathless experience that's been almost flawlessly ported to Switch by 4A Games. Artyom's desperate, haunting voyage through the irradiated remains of Moscow is every bit as engaging today as it was when it first released back in 2010, and this Redux version benefits massively from overhauled AI, gameplay mechanics and visuals. In terms of first-person shooters or survival horror games on Nintendo's console, this is one of the very best.
Read full review ↗Metro 2033 is a solid, atmospheric action-horror game that relies on a terrifying atmosphere with realistic settings rather than a complex story. It will delight fans of horror and survival games, but it won’t satisfy those looking for a breathtaking story and well-developed characters. Nevertheless, it’s an experience that no gamer or sci-fi reader should miss.
Read full review ↗While certainly an interesting game, Metro 2033 won't be for every first-person shooter fan. However, if you enjoy a more thought provoking, story-driven adventure you'll most likely enjoy yourself. With all of the game's DLC included, there's a good amount of content to keep you busy.
Read full review ↗I might have a few gripes with the Switch version of Metro 2033 Redux, namely the limitations imposed by the joycons and its insanely long loading times, but I need to commend how impressive it is to have a game of this scope running so beautifully on the Switch’s hardware.
Read full review ↗A marvel of a technical port, and probably the best way to experience Metro 2033: this is Metro 2033 Redux on Switch, and, even with long loading times, we cannot recommend it enough.
Read full review ↗Set in a post-Apocalyptic Russia, primarily taking place in the labyrinth of subway tunnels and other areas below the surface, Metro 2033 Redux is an atmospheric and pretty gritty first-person experience...
Read full review ↗The first-person survival horror aspect of the game doesn't suffer at all on the Switch. From the visuals, audio, and inputs, everything feels and plays as if the series was made for the console. In fact, it's a testament that the Switch is more than the sum of its parts. Though there is a loss of some visual fidelity, and some sacrifice made while playing in handheld mode that comes in the form of battery life, Metro 2033 Redux and Metro: Last Light feel at home on this hybrid console.
Read full review ↗Between 2033 and Last Light, Metro Redux is a must buy for fans of the genre, fans of the medium, and fans of good stories.
Read full review ↗Metro 2033 Redux is a masterpiece of atmospheric storytelling — rarely has a game built an apocalyptic world this convincingly, not through destruction alone, but through the people who survive within it.
