Chess has long been a game played by millions across the world, dating back as far as the 1500’s; although the exact origins seem to be unknown. Knight’s Retreat is a puzzle game that brings together the elements of chess to create a unique experience on the Nintendo Switch.

Knight's Retreat is a clever puzzle game based around the movements of chess pieces. There are 80 levels to keep players challenged, but its basic visuals and redundant gameplay may turn away chess and puzzle dilettantes.

Knight’s Retreat might have some problems derived from its excessively minimalistic approach, but I have to commend the developers for coming up with a completely unique and very entertaining premise for a puzzle game. It doesn’t require a lot of your time, as it only features eighty puzzles, but it’s good while it lasts.
