With four difficulty levels to overcome, lots of equipment to change up your play style, and five levels to master, Kill Knight is pretty fleshed out for what it is. On top of that, the controls feel very responsive, and it's all presented with a harsh, grainy aesthetic and appropriately punchy music

A game that sometimes feels like taking on the legions of hell for real, Kill Knight is not welcoming to those without patience. It's a relentless onslaught that feels overwhelming until you get to grips with a generous and versatile set of abilities. Every attempt to push further into the abyss brings fresh challenges, testing the limits of your fortitude. Failure comes often and easily, but success is exhilarating.

Kill Knight is a fantastic arcade shooter that promises to hook the most assiduous fans when it comes to competing for scores. While the title isn't any kind of leader of a new wave of "Boomer Shooters," its fusion of gothic and retro art along with its frenetic combat are addictive combinations that will appeal to anyone looking to learn a new action game.

While I can appreciate the idea of a Furi styled boss battle, it just feels out of place considering what the rest of the game is. Maybe there was more planned or maybe they just decided that they didn’t know how to make the boss battle fit naturally into the flow of the arena. Maybe they ran out of time and decided it was good enough as it was. I’m not sure, but at $15, it’s hard to penalize them too much over a slightly disjointed final battle.

Kill Knight manages to mix hectic and ultra-responsive arcade gameplay with a fun layer of resource management and strategy to create a great challenge to bite into. The visuals are splendid, the enemies never stop coming, and the battle is glorious!

Kill Knight isn’t for the faint of heart. It’s brutal, unforgiving, and relentless—but it’s also one of the most satisfying action shooters I’ve played in recent memory. The tight, responsive controls, the variety of weapons, and the rewarding progression system all combine to create a game that’s hard to put down. Sure, the difficulty might turn some players away, but for those willing to push through the frustration, Kill Knight offers a rewarding and exhilarating experience. It’s a straightforward action game that doesn’t waste time with elaborate narratives. You’re here to fight, survive, and master the mechanics. And when everything clicks, it’s like dancing with death itself.

An excellent twin-stick shooter that borrows liberally from the likes of Doom and Devil May Cry, to create a punishingly difficult but extremely rewarding arcade game.

Kill Knight excels in its unforgiving, skill-based gameplay, but its high difficulty may alienate more casual players. Its strengths lie in its challenging, but fair, design that rewards players who invest time in learning the mechanics. However, the repetitive level design and lack of enemy variety hold it back from reaching its full potential.

Kill Knight is a constant struggle for survival that delivers more carnage than you can poke a stick at. PlaySide has delivered a challenge I haven’t been this addicted to overcome in such a long time.
