Gundam Breaker 4 is a return to what the series does best. It doubles down on its core gameplay loop, offering hours upon hours of fast-paced grinding, topped off with impressively deep customisation and build options. Repetitive, but undoubtedly addictive.

Gundam Breaker 4 offers return to form for the series and demonstrates time and again that it knows the importance of focusing on its strengths. Though its middling graphics and somewhat repetitive gameplay can hold it back a bit, the incredibly deep customisation options, snappy combat, and near-endless replayability make this the kind of game that'll get its hooks in you deep once it clicks. If you're into Gundam, we'd suggest you pick this one up when you get the chance, especially if you're looking for a content-rich and relatively low-investment action game to add to your Switch library.

Gundam Breaker 4 is like watching an old friend rebound from tough times. It may not be as great as its mainline predecessors in some regards, but it is a solid course correction from the last few dire entries. The repetitive stages and diluted weapon options are a noticeable step back, yet so many quality-of-life improvements to this new entry in the gunpla action RPG series make it much a smoother experience to play. While completing the main story took me roughly around 17 hours, I'm just about to reach the 60 hour mark because I keep making entire new gunpla builds to take on the highest difficulty stages on their own. It takes virtual model kit building to the next level and the potential of crafting something truly masterful, or horrific, is only limited by a person’s imagination.

Gundam Breaker 4 takes you to the virtual world dedicated to Gunpla. The customisation of the model kit is very well done and allows you to choose from a huge and comprehensive catalogue of parts in High Grade and Super Deformed scale. However, the gameplay suffers from incredible technical shortcomings, while many game design choices make the title fall into repetitiveness.

Does the thought of a robotic buffet whet your otaku appetite? Gundam Breaker 4 boasts a massive collection of mechs from the popular series for players to collect, customize and battle with until your appetite is satiated. Its visuals and story are so-so and the combat can be a bit repetitive. The customization, however, is quite deep and can keep folks occupied for hours upon hours. While the game isn’t for everyone, Gundam Breaker 4 will definitely scratch the itch of fans of the popular robot franchise.

Gundam Breaker 4 is likely a dream come true for any fan of the franchise. The ability to customize your Gunpla down to the smallest detail makes this game ideal for long-time collectors of models from the series who can’t wait to experiment with the endless parts available. However, the game is not without its flaws, which are hard to overlook, even for die-hard fans. For instance, while the combat is enjoyable due to the variety of builds you can create, it feels underdeveloped in several areas. Additionally, most missions follow a similar structure, leading to a sense of repetition early on. The story is nothing remarkable, though younger players might find it appealing. On the other hand, the multiplayer component could be a significant plus if you’re able to find a well-coordinated team to play with.

Gundam Breaker 4 is the video game I never knew that I needed. Building my perfect Gunpla is the most relaxing gaming experience I have had so far in 2024. If you're a fan of Gundam you have to try this game.

Gundam Breaker 4 is a game of two sides, but they don’t seem to blend smoothly. While the constructive side of Bandai Namco’s title is unquestionable due to the depth of the gunpla editor, the gameplay aspect is quite weak. Despite the gameplay's potential, the game’s design feels disappointingly repetitive, whether in single-player or multiplayer modes. The campaign, in terms of writing and progression, only exacerbates this dichotomy. A lackluster title destined for die-hard fans—those who enjoy virtually assembling their mobile suits won’t be disappointed by Gundam Breaker 4, but others should avoid it if they’re waiting for a title that does justice to the legendary Sunrise robot franchise. Now, excuse me as I get back to assembling my new Master Grade model...

Gundam Breaker 4 is an absolute must-play for fans of the franchise, and the fast-paced and fun combat system limits the repetitiveness of the experience. However, the lack of depth and fan service make it a game not for everyone.

Incredibly varied and immense, between various and eventual modes, Gundam Breaker 4 presents a well-implemented gameplay within it and a high and studied customization of the Mobile Suit. It's excellent how you can connect and implement different weapons to create the mecha par excellence. The story is not the real strength of the work and does not intend to be, preferring to focus everything and even more so on the game design. A choice that I really appreciated.
