Why play it

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle is a 2018 Strategy, Puzzle, Indie game rated 9.0/10 from 6.1k ratings, with a main story of about 4h, available on Android, iOS, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PC (Microsoft Windows), PlayStation 4, Xbox One.

"From the makers of Slayaway Camp—the award-winning “Bloodiest Puzzle Game Ever”—comes an even more frightening puzzler starring one of horror’s most iconic killers. Now you can go behind the hockey mask of Jason Voorhees on his mission to murder unfortunate campers at Crystal Lake and beyond. Players control Jason by sliding him around an isometric puzzle level to attack his victims, either directly with a variety of weapons, or indirectly, by frightening them into environmental hazards like campfires, bear traps, and woodchippers. Gruesome reflex-based “Kill Scenes” punctuate the puzzling as you progress through multiple episodes, from classic campgrounds to more exotic locations such as Manhattan, abandoned amusement parks, supermax prisons, beach resorts, outer space and more."

While Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle doesn't stray too far from the template of Slayaway Camp: Butcher's Cut, it does offer some much-needed adjustments to its gory puzzle formula. With 12 chapters to work your way through and 150 different scenes to drench in gore, plenty of costumes to unlock, and all manner of implements to wield (complete with grisly death animations), this cartoonish puzzler offers a fitting way to ring in Halloween on Nintendo Switch.

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle could be viewed as a reskin of Slayaway Camp, which would be a problem if Slayaway Camp wasn't such a great puzzle game, but honestly more of the same is welcome.

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle might have a simple concept and an even simpler look, but it manages to be a bloody (pun intended) good game, with many stages to complete, and with the puzzles getting progressively harder and more complex at the best possible pace. Apart from a very low replay value, fans of the genre are definitely advised to give it a shot.

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle might not have the sheen of Slayaway Camp or be an homage to its namesake series like Friday the 13th: The Game, but it's still a heck of a lot of fun and great value for money when you consider the amount of content that's available here.

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle is a fun and comedic take on the famous horror movie series. Filled with hilarious challenges that will make players come back to it again and again, this is definitely a hidden gem of the Nintendo Switch eShop and one which should be promptly visited by fans of the movie and by any player looking for some fun and laughter-inducing moments.

Friday the 13th: Killer Puzzle is a curious marriage of gore and puzzles which unfortunately doesn't quite it right. Fans of the franchise will get more enjoyment than others, but it's hard to recommend this puzzler to any but the most die-hard Vorhees fans.

Friday the 13th: Killer puzzle is a great combination of the Friday the 13th franchise and the puzzle game genre. The game has a good premise and entertaining gameplay, which may leave you not wanting to put it down. The variety of weapons and costumes make things more charming, and kept things fresh. The game should take at least a couple hours to beat as well.

Another fantastic and funny splatter-filled puzzler that offers a ton of content for players to slice and dice their way through. Though it feels like the slasher film references could have been pushed further, the core gameplay is meticulous and satisfying.
