The new Flow State mechanic is a slight misstep, but EA Sports UFC 6's collection of gripping and carefully crafted stories in Hall of Legends and The Legacy make this a celebration of MMA unlike any before it.

UFC 6 is my favorite game in the series so far. It’s content-rich, looks beautiful, and the actual fighting feels tight and responsive. It’s only bogged down by some smaller flaws, but overall, UFC 6 is a strong contender.

EA Sports UFC 6 is a bit of a second wind for this veteran franchise, delivering impressive visuals, refined action, and new ways to play, including a series-first story mode and a flashy Hall of Legends celebrating the accomplishments of some of the biggest names in the sport. The series is still a bit stuck in its ways in some aspects -- grappling could use an update, and Career Mode is still a grind -- but overall, UFC 6 punches things up more than you might expect.

EA Sports UFC 6 delivers the most comprehensive MMA experience on the market with its high-end visuals, impactful striking mechanics, and immersive game modes. However, due to its lack of radical innovations compared to UFC 5 and the presence of noticeable technical issues, it may fall short of fully satisfying longtime fans of the series.

EA Sports UFC 6 was a really nice surprise that I felt had a good amount of new content and core upgrades to the formula. Perhaps that’s because I went through a long gap, but I honestly think the core elements that they added here were for the better. Flow State, The Gym, Perks, the Hall of Fame, and general gameplay improvements all felt like great additions. I’d like to see a bit more effort go into the storytelling and writing for the story mode, but it offered a few hours of something a little bit different.

EA Sports UFC 6 is perfect for hardcore fans of MMA who just want to get in a cage and fight, assemble their own events, and feel all the things that made them get into the sport in the first place. There's plenty in UFC 6 for you, and the cumbersome menus and lack of real improvement in the career mode(s) probably won't bother you that much. If you were hoping for a complete package where every facet of the series has been upgraded … well, there's always the next one, right?

UFC 6 is a steady evolution of the franchise. It may not set any new standards, but it successfully builds on the ideas of previous installments while introducing a few additions of its own, though not all of them feel necessary.

UFC 6 is a game that builds on its predecessors, but its improvements are aimed at further enhancing its strengths. With a fast-paced and deep combat system, impressive graphics, and a wide variety of game modes, UFC 6 is a fantastic fighting game, as well as the best mixed martial arts simulation available today.

EA SPORTS UFC 6 is a strong, intense, and fun game when the fights are in the octagon. The brawling is the highlight, with impactful strikes, unpredictable knockouts, and a physical feel that puts this edition among the best in the franchise in that aspect.
