It features a story campaign that goes down smoothly, if a little forgettable, but it's full of clever encounters that require more input than previous outings. It won't convert unbelievers, but for those already on the hook, it's as good as the series gets.

Disgaea 7 offers up yet another enjoyable entry in the long-running series, offering up a more refined take on the famously in-depth gameplay systems. New mechanics such as Jumbification add some interesting wrinkles to the SRPG battles, while new modes like competitive ranked online bring even more playability to a game that'll take you hundreds of hours to see to completion. Perhaps best of all, Disgaea 7 is very newcomer-friendly, though we will add that the very deliberate and measured approach to min-maxing isn't for everyone. Whether you're looking for an excellent new RPG to sink a lot of time into or you've been a fan of Disgaea since the PS2 days, Disgaea 7 is a worthwhile entry that we'd recommend you pick up when you can.

If you liked previous Disgaea games - grinding your levels up to max, performing increasingly higher damaging attacks, and seeing a mass of numbers fill your screen - Disgaea 7 continues that trend and amplifies it further.

The 3D models, while still a work in progress, have gotten better and the soundtrack is among the best in the series. If you love tactical RPGs and the anime-inspired art style, Disgaea 7 is a great addition to your gaming library.

Disgaea 7 takes the series back to its golden days and offers tons of tactical combat and a comic story, making it a perfect fit for the fans of JRPG. It's not by any means a revolutionary experience and doesn't help the genre to move forward.

With Disgaea 7: Vow of the Virtueless, Nippon Ichi returns to the series' tactical RPG roots, addressing the issues of Defiance of Destiny and delivering a less forgiving title. It offers a multifaceted and challenging experience, delighting fans with countless hours of fun. Though not perfect, it stands out in the series.

Disgaea 7 has been a fantastic ride. It's a meaty game to say the least and should you wish to pour hundreds of hours into this game, you easily could. I for one am excited to see what I've missed from previous entries and will be there day one for the hopeful Disgaea 8.

If you’re new though this is a really good entry to start off your venture into the series. The game does a good job introducing each of its mechanics and features whilst you grind away at creating the ultimate party. As with other entries of the series, this is a game that can potentially keep you busy for hundreds of hours. And if you have the time to spare, you’ll find plenty to like here. I had the most fun just doing a few battles after a long, busy day at work. The story is hit-and-miss. But it has deep and engaging gameplay, with a nearly bottomless pit of customization for your party. It will keep you glued to the most colourful netherworld in gaming.
