Clue: Murder by Death is a modern take on the classic board game, bringing 3D graphics and open world exploration to the mystery solving. Investigate the scene, interview suspects, and eventually present your case, all within only two hours. Unfortunately, there are numerous bugs within that timeframe.

Clue: Murder by Death oozes charm and nails the whodunnit vibe but the bloated mansion, limited inventory, and forced repetition drag the experience down.

Clue: Murder by Death on Xbox is a solid detective experience that modernises the classic formula with atmosphere and immersion. Its early hours are genuinely gripping, and its presentation — especially in audio and environmental design — creates a satisfying sense of suspense. The move from board game abstraction to explorable mystery is a smart evolution.

Clue: Murder By Death fully immerses the player in a thoroughly realised 1930's era country estate murder mystery with the welcome addition of cute, cartoony visuals. Sadly, the game is somewhat let down by a frustrating two-hour real-time playthrough limit that collides with tedious character walking speeds and frequent clunky load screens.

Clue: Murder by Death seems perfect for a niche audience, as it offers a mystery that requires player commitment and meaningful deduction skills to solve, with very few tools to make it easier. For a general audience, however, the game is likely to feel slow, awkward to play, and full of distracting load times, which come together to make a game that’s hard to engage with.

Clue: Murder By Death has a great framework for a video game. Appropriate graphics and a clever use of different dialogue give the game an authentic feel, more than just a remake of a classic board game. However, with slow loading times and character movement, it misses the mark and leads to cumbersome and frustrating gameplay. Clue: Murder By Death would have benefited from more user testing and proofreading to capture the typos and grammar mistakes. Although I initially liked the game, the game-breaking crashes mean I really can’t recommend it at this time.

Unfortunately, the experience wasn’t much fun for me. There’s a decent foundation here, but it’s weighed down by too many rooms to explore, too many suspects who start to blur together, and far too many objects to sift through. Combined with a poor map system, limited inventory space, slow character movement, unclear objectives, and noticeable input lag, the game quickly became frustrating. Instead of feeling like a clever mystery to unravel, I felt overwhelmed. The sheer cognitive load turned what should have been an engaging investigation into something that felt more like work than enjoyment. That said, if you have a few hours to spare and enjoy obtuse mystery games that demand a lot of patience, this might still be worth a look.

Should Clue: Murder By Death ever add in some quality of life basics, even just labeling the rooms, or allowing you add markers, this could be a wonderful mystery. For now, unfortunately, its one where it feels fine to leave quite a few stones unturned.
