All in all, Cheap Car Repair has a fun premise, but I feel like it doesn’t live up to its full potential. The bootleg repairs and improvisations are great when they actually happen. The main feature of the game feels pretty underutilized outside of some select story missions. Between the janky mechanics and the genuinely unnecessary use of AI, the game definitely has its flaws. Still, the fun quests and quirky story missions can give you a decent few hours of gameplay. Just don’t expect it to keep you hooked forever. Overall, I am giving Cheap Car Repair the Thumb Culture Silver Award.

Cheap Car Repair is one of those games that knows exactly what it wants to be and fully embraces its chaotic charm. Between the entertaining cast of characters and the freedom to perform either proper repairs or some seriously dodgy bush mechanic fixes, it had it all. The soundtrack kept me working away happily and really delivered an addictive experience. While a few controls were frustrating, and minor visual shortcomings held it back from perfection, it was still a great game. The game’s humour, personality and satisfying gameplay loop make it easy to recommend.

Cheap Car Repair is a bizarre and genuinely funny mechanic simulator with a strong 90s Polish village atmosphere, clever improvised repair mechanics, and enough absurd humor to make every cheap fix feel entertaining.
