More than just a stylish indie platformer, Bionic Bay is a blueprint for how to evolve 2D design in 2025—tight controls, physics-driven mechanics, and an atmosphere so thick you can swap into it.

Bionic Bay isn’t trying to be the next big AAA blockbuster. It doesn’t have a million-dollar budget or a cast of voice actors. What it does have is identity. Confidence. Innovation. And an understanding of how to make players feel like they’re constantly on the edge of disaster, but still in control.

Bionic Bay is the perfect game to keep between bigger more involved titles but also has an interesting narrative for those who want it, perfectly balancing fun and challenge with a very approachable pick-up-and-play style.

There’s always room for small indie platformers in the crowded gaming market — just look at hits like INSIDE and Limbo. Bionic Bay, the result of a collaboration between Mureena Games and Psychoflow Studio, borrows heavily from those masterpieces and aims for a similar niche, though it doesn’t quite reach the same heights.

Bionic Bay succeeds at being about as pure a platformer as players could ask for. With plenty of challenge, but a wise decision to not make that challenge punishing, this is the sort of game that helps players get better at platformers while having a great time as well. While its atmosphere may not offer the transcendent experience that could have taken Bionic Bay to the next level, any fan of the genre should have a great time with it.

Bionic Bay is a game like no other. A captivating game that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. You move forward, you think, you make more progress, and you have to dig deeper and deeper in the face of new obstacles. The game is brimming with excellent ideas that bring a nice diversity to the whole. Admittedly, we'd have gladly taken on more - but who knows, maybe additional content will enrich the experience in the future?
