Why play it

Backrooms: The Twisted One is a tense horror escape experience set in the classic yellow liminal halls of the Backrooms. Explore 3 levels across Normal and Hard difficulties while haunted doll entities stalk your every move. They freeze when watched, but the moment you look away, they close in. Search the maze for collectible VHS tapes, stay alert, and find your way out before the twisted ones reach you.

Story and worldbuilding

You don’t remember how you got there—only that the halls were already watching. The yellow walls stretch on forever, humming softly, like something alive just beneath the surface. At first, you think you’re alone. Then you notice them. The figures. Still as long as your eyes are locked on them… closer when they’re not. Somewhere in the maze, you begin to find tapes—old VHS recordings scattered like breadcrumbs. They feel intentional. Placed. Each one hums with a strange weight, as if it matters that you collect them. As if something is waiting for you to. And then it hits you: this place knows you’re here. It always has. The tapes aren’t just clues. They’re part of it. An exit, maybe. Or a test. Either way, the longer you stay, the more the halls shift… and the less certain it feels that you were ever meant to leave.
