Why play it

Asuha, a self-proclaimed gambling prodigy, challenges the Witch ruling the gambling district. Poised to win, she is defeated by a mysterious power. An adventure of gambling, exposing frauds and earning fortunes through poker.

Story and worldbuilding

Asuha Senahara, a self-proclaimed genius gambler, is a wanderer. Amidst the tables of cards and dice, it is she alone who snatches the chips at stake. One day, she learns of the “gambling district”, a special ward where gambling holds influence above all else. The “Witches” - a group of the most extraordinary gamblers rule over the place - treat Asuha to the taste of defeat; something she was unfamiliar with. They exercised not luck, not skill, but dirty tricks, such that felled Asuha to the depths of the abyss. As a self-proclaimed genius gambler, Asuha becomes determined to take down the Witches. The Coliseum is the battlefield. The challenger is Asuha Senahara. The chips are on the table, and the Witches are ready to be exposed.

A happy blend of gambling, rock ‘n roll, and anime shenanigans.

The gratuitous cruelty simply isn’t enough to sustain a worthwhile game experience, and it quickly plummets from “going overboard” to “growing overly bored”. Those who feel intrigued by this concept may still find a good time here, but all others would do well to steer clear.

All in Abyss: Judge the Fake is a fun combination of Yu-Gi-Oh! and Danganronpa that is much more fun getting to and fighting the bosses than it is for the rest of the game.

Sometimes I feel like if All in Abyss: Judge the Fake ended after the third chapter, I’d like the game a lot more.

All in Abyss: Judge the Fake delivers an original concept by mixing poker, bluffing and psychological tension in a visual novel structure. The combat system is enticing, the main character design is great and the heavy atmosphere is well constructed, but rhythm issues, visual and sound repetition, and the excessive grinding in some chapters end up negatively impacting the experience.

All in Abyss: Judge the Fake is an eccentric combination of bets and RPG, creating an addicting format of evaluating possibilities and using special skills. It's a proposal that's unique enough to be worth exploring.

If you like card games like Poker, then you’ll like the gameplay loop but if you aren’t a gambling addict like Asuha, the game won’t have much else to offer besides the humor.

With dreadful gameplay and extremely questionable artistic choices, All in Abyss: Judge the Fake failed to hold my interest. If the story weren’t so shallow and mediocre, and if the poker were as well-executed as it sounds in theory, we might have had a very compelling game on our hands – but the cards dealt here make me want to fold.

All in Abyss: Judge the Fake is a simple game of quirky lighthearted fun for those who enjoy a little high stakes gambling. 🃏

All in Abyss was a title that positively surprised me. The plot is full of twists and turns with a good characterization of the characters, aesthetically well-finished. The torture scenes may or may not be liked, but they are entirely optional. The gameplay is poker with RPG elements and this strange combination works in the game. It's so fun to play with it despite the fact that there are a few things forced behind the matches.
